11 confirmed guests to our first party

Dear Friends,

It’s Paula here. So far we have 11 confirmed guests coming to a party at my place on March 7th in the afternoon in Kitengela which is just outside of Nairobi and on the edge of the National Park. Everyone is invited as it’s a fund raising party -just sign on to our facebook event here

WildlifeDirect is a unique conservation organization based in Nairobi, that raises awareness and funds for projects by enabling a global online community that cares about wildlife conservation to provide support directly to projects on the ground. The daily stories from the conservation front line are communicated by rangers and conservationists on the ground through blogs on wildlifedirct.org

I aim to help Richard Leakey to raise $2,000 at my party through auctions and a dudu safari with Dino Martins.

What’s a dudu safari? I should let you find out – basically a tour of the insects and bugs that we all love and hate. …he’s a walking encyclopaedia. Pick a net and go on a walk to discover these amazing creatures. Don’t worry, nothing all netted bugs will be released once identified.
If you can’t make it to my party, but you care about wildlife conservation and you want to help Richard Leakey you can host a small dinner party for 10 – 15 people and tell them about WildlifeDirect. Raise funds and make payments directly onto the WildlifeDirect website.

A message from Roxane

When Roxane of JACK heard that we were raising funds to keep WildlifeDirect going she wrote to us and sent this message

Dear Friends,

Wildlife Direct is doing a great and fantastic job as  people like us, who
are living in remote areas and struggling with wildlife issues, are given
the opportunity to share our good and bad experience. Our NGO wasn’t very
known before and has progressed a lot thanks to the opportunity Wildlife
Direct offered us.

So, if Wildlife Direct is in trouble it means that our blog is in trouble
too and that the chimps of the JACK Refuge will no longer have the
possibility to ask for help nor tell the world about the horrible things
their species are going through in the DRC. We must help Wildlife Direct to
continue what it has started. Please, help them continue the good job!

Thank you for the help you can provide

Kind regards,

Roxane

Meanwhile I have 11 people confirmed that they are coming to the fundraising dinner at my house….anyone else out there want to come?  Dino of dududiaries will be coming and will conduct a really exciting dudu safari.

Please help me help Richard Leakey raise funds to save WildlifeDirect

WildlifeDirect raised almost 1 million dollars last year for conservation projects around Africa, Asia and South America through the blogging website called wildlifedirect.org.

The funds have helped save gorillas, elephants, rare birds, sun bears, plants, fish and insects in 77 different projects and allowed an enormous amount of good conservation work to happen last year.

The global economic crisis in 2008 had a huge impact on fund raising activities for the core costs of WildlifeDirect and the team based in Kenya still need to raise $150,000 to keep the organization going through 2009. Here’s why it is so important

1. Because WildlifeDirect enables amazing conservation work to happen in remote dangerous places, saving endangered species in over 90 projects
2. Because WildlifeDirect has a budget short fall due to the global economic crisis
3. Because WildlifeDirect has to pay bills, rent, internet access, salaries, etc

I am going to help Richard Leakey to raise these much needed funds by having a crazy wild dinner party at my house to raise $ 2,000. Please come, bring your friends and don’t forget your credit card or check book!
